Assa Abloy (Vostio)
Assa Abloy Vostio is a cloud-based access-management system. Connected to LIKE MAGIC, it lets guests receive a room key as an in-app mobile key or as a physical key card encoded at a kiosk or front desk. Wallet keys come from the separate Assa Abloy Wallet provider, not from Vostio. This guide covers connecting Vostio and mapping its locks; the guest-facing side is described in Mobile Key & Door Access for Guests.
ℹ️ Note: LIKE MAGIC supports several Assa Abloy families. Vostio is the cloud API covered here. Visionline is a separate Assa Abloy option, and Assa Abloy Wallet is the Wallet-key handoff. If you are unsure which one your property runs, ask via a Support Ticket. The steps below apply to Vostio.
1. Prerequisites
- A live Assa Abloy Vostio environment for the property.
- The Vostio API credentials: a user name and password plus the client ID and user pool ID of your Vostio environment. LIKE MAGIC holds them in the property configuration; there is no self-service screen for them.
- Your locks configured and named in the Vostio system by Assa Abloy or your locksmith before you map them here.
2. How the Vostio Integration Works
LIKE MAGIC talks to Vostio over its cloud API. On behalf of a reservation, the platform can:
- Issue a key for the guest's doors (as a mobile or card key).
- Read an existing card so it can be reused or re-encoded.
- Check a key or a door out when the stay ends, so access is revoked at the right time.
- List the doors and encoders available in the property so you can map them.
You do not call any of this directly. It happens automatically as guests check in, receive keys and check out. Your job as operator is the one-time connection and lock mapping.
3. Connecting Vostio
- Complete the setup with Assa Abloy so the Vostio environment and API access exist for the property.
- Submit the Vostio API credentials to LIKE MAGIC via a Support Ticket. They are not entered in a self-service screen.
- LIKE MAGIC sets the property's door provider to Assa Abloy Vostio. Once set, the property's Vostio doors and encoders become available for mapping in Settings.
⚠️ Note: Provider selection and credentials are set by LIKE MAGIC, not on a self-service settings page. If Vostio doors do not appear in Door Access, the connection is the first thing to check. Request a verification via a Support Ticket.
4. Mapping Locks
Once connected, map each Vostio lock to the right accessibility (and, for room doors, the right unit) in Settings → Door Access. The full mapping procedure (accessibility levels, private-door assignment, sort priority, save & publish) is described in Door Access.
A lock matched to a PMS unit arrives as Private with the unit assigned; an unmatched lock arrives as Restricted. Which accessibility a lock can take depends on its Vostio door type:
- A guest door takes Private only, and the unit is assigned on it.
- Every other Vostio door takes Public, Public (In-House), Service or Restricted, but never Private.
5. Key Media (Mobile and Card)
Vostio supports two key media, and a property can offer either or both:
- Mobile: an in-app "hold near lock" Bluetooth key.
- Card: a physical key card, encoded at a kiosk or front desk.
Which media a guest actually sees is governed by the guest-experience settings in Mobile Key & Door Access for Guests and by the encoders you connect (next section).
6. Encoders for Key Cards
To issue physical key cards, connect the property's card encoders in Settings → Door Access Encoders (see Door Access, section Connect Encoder Devices). Each encoder has a name and an encoder key obtained from Assa Abloy or found in the Vostio software. Which encoder a kiosk uses is set on the kiosk itself in Settings → Kiosks, not on the encoder.
ℹ️ Note: Encoders are only needed for card keys. A property that offers only mobile keys does not need an encoder.
7. Verifying the Connection
- In Settings → Door Access, confirm the property's Vostio doors and encoders are listed.
- Map a test room door to a unit and save & publish.
- On a test reservation, check in and confirm the guest receives the expected key media (Wallet, mobile or card).
- Open the door with that key, then check out and confirm access is revoked.
8. Conclusion
Connecting Assa Abloy Vostio means submitting the API credentials, letting LIKE MAGIC set the door provider, and mapping each lock in Door Access. Vostio can deliver Wallet, mobile and card keys; connect encoders only if you issue cards. Always verify a full issue-open-checkout cycle on a test reservation before the property goes live.
