Burgwächter
Burgwächter locks work with PIN codes: instead of a card or a phone key, the guest receives a numeric door code for their stay. LIKE MAGIC generates the code through the Burgwächter hotel web service and shows it to the guest in the Guest Portal.
1. What Guests Get
- 🔢 A room PIN per stay: generated when the guest's room access starts and displayed prominently on the guest's keys page. The code is entered on the lock's keypad.
- ❌ No key cards, no Apple/Google Wallet keys, and no self-chosen PINs: codes are always generated.
If a stay is extended past the code's validity, a new code is issued automatically.
2. Prerequisites
- Burgwächter locks installed and managed through the Burgwächter hotel web service, with each door's Burgwächter room reference known.
- The web service address for the property, plus the choice whether codes are issued in the 9-digit format. LIKE MAGIC holds both in the property configuration; there is no self-service screen for them.
3. Mapping Doors
Doors are mapped in Settings → Door Access like any other provider: display name, accessibility, unit, active state and sort order. Service is not offered in the accessibility list for Burgwächter, so its doors cannot be sold as a service. see Door Access, section Set-Up & Mapping, for the procedure and for how accessibility states decide who sees which door.
Burgwächter-specific: each door carries its Burgwächter room reference, the lock's identifier on the Burgwächter side.
4. How PIN Validity Works (Read This)
Burgwächter codes are offline codes: the lock accepts them based on the validity window baked into the code itself.
- A code's validity follows the stay, with a minimum of one day/night so even a same-day stay gets a working code.
- ⚠️ A code cannot be revoked remotely. When a guest checks out, LIKE MAGIC removes the code from the guest's view, but the code itself keeps working on the lock until its own expiry (the departure day). Issuing a new code for the same room displaces the old one on the lock.
- A fresh code for a room can be issued on request via a Support Ticket: for example after an early departure; the new code displaces the previous one on the lock.
Plan your operations around this. For security-sensitive cases, have the room's code regenerated rather than relying on check-out.
5. Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely cause |
|---|---|
| Guest sees no PIN | Room access hasn't started yet (check-in pending) or the door's room reference isn't mapped to the unit |
| PIN rejected at the lock | Code expired or displaced by a newer code for the same room - request a fresh code via a Support Ticket |
| Code still works after check-out | Expected - see section 4; have the room's code regenerated to displace it |
6. Conclusion
With Burgwächter connected, every stay gets its door code automatically: generated at the right moment, shown in the Guest Portal, renewed on extensions. Keep the offline-code caveat from section 4 in mind when handling early departures.
