Messerschmitt
Messerschmitt is a key-card locking system. Connected to LIKE MAGIC, guests receive a physical key card encoded at the Self-Service Kiosk or by the front desk. That card is the room key. The LIKE MAGIC integration uses Messerschmitt key cards only. Messerschmitt's own app-based opening is not part of the integration, and there are no PIN codes.
1. What Guests Get
- 🏷️ A key card per stay, encoded on demand at a kiosk or by staff. The first card is the guest's key; additional cards for the same stay are issued as duplicates.
- The card works from the moment it is encoded until departure plus a two-hour grace period (for one-night same-day stays the validity runs to the next day).
- ❌ No door opening from the LIKE MAGIC app (Messerschmitt's own app opening is not integrated), no PIN codes, no Apple/Google Wallet keys.
2. Prerequisites
- A live Messerschmitt lock system for the property, with rooms set up on the Messerschmitt side.
- The Kiosk licence enabled on your Messerschmitt system, a Messerschmitt licence option that you arrange with Messerschmitt. LIKE MAGIC then obtains the connection credentials from Messerschmitt support during onboarding, so there is nothing for you to hand over.
3. Mapping Rooms and Encoders
Rooms and encoders are mapped exactly as for every other door provider. See Door Access: section Set-Up & Mapping for assigning Messerschmitt rooms to units, Sync Locks from Your Door Provider for how the room list from Messerschmitt is synced, and Connect Encoder Devices for the encoder stations (each station can be tied to specific kiosks so the kiosk flow drives the right device).
Messerschmitt-specific: special areas (extra access zones like garage or spa) exist on the Messerschmitt side, and access to them follows the lock system's own defaults.
4. Encoding Cards
Cards are encoded through the reservation's Encode key action: at the kiosk during self-check-in, or by staff. Encoding is available while the reservation is Confirmed or In-House and has a unit assigned. See Configure the Self-Service Kiosk for the kiosk flow.
5. Check-Out Behaviour
Two things end a card's life:
- The card expires on its own: its encoded validity ends after departure (plus the grace period).
- Optionally, LIKE MAGIC can enable a check-out signal for your property. Request it via a Support Ticket. With the signal on, LIKE MAGIC tells the Messerschmitt system at check-out to disable the guest's key immediately. Without it, the card simply lapses via its expiry.
6. Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely cause |
|---|---|
| Encode key is not offered | The reservation is not Confirmed/In-House, or no unit is assigned |
| Encoding fails at the kiosk | The kiosk's linked encoder station is unavailable - check the encoder configuration (Door Access, Connect Encoder Devices) and the station itself |
| Card doesn't open the room | The unit's Messerschmitt room mapping is missing or points at the wrong room - re-check the mapping (Door Access, Set-Up & Mapping) |
| Card still works right after check-out | The check-out signal is not enabled for your property - the card then lapses at its encoded expiry; request the signal via a Support Ticket if you need immediate deactivation |
7. Conclusion
With Messerschmitt connected, key cards become part of the self-service journey. Guests encode their own card at the kiosk, staff issue duplicates, and cards end their life automatically by expiry, or immediately at check-out once the signal is enabled for the property.
