Self-Checkout
Self-checkout lets a guest complete their own departure: confirm the departure time, declare any minibar consumption, review the final bill, pay, and get a confirmation, without stopping at reception. This article explains the flow and how you make it available per property.
This article is written for the administrator who configures the departure experience for a property.
1. Who Can Use This
Self-checkout is enabled per property by LIKE MAGIC. If guests do not see the departure flow, request activation via a Support Ticket.
2. The Self-Checkout Steps
The departure flow walks the guest through:
| Step | What the guest does |
|---|---|
| Departure confirmation | Confirms they are leaving (and their departure time). |
| Minibar | Declares any minibar items consumed. |
| Bill | Reviews the final bill, including anything declared. |
| Payment | Pays any open balance. |
| Confirmation | Sees a checkout-success confirmation. |
3. Making Self-Checkout Available
Self-checkout is enabled per property by LIKE MAGIC. Two independent options shape it, both requested via a Support Ticket:
- Self-checkout availability: whether the departure flow is offered to guests at all.
- Payment on checkout: whether the payment step is included. If a property settles balances another way, the flow can be offered without the payment step.
Self-checkout runs on the Digital Guest Portal and the Self-Service Kiosk.
4. Minibar Declaration
The minibar step reuses the same self-service shop catalogue the property uses elsewhere. The minibar items a guest can declare are authored as content (in the CMS), not hard-coded. That means:
- The items and prices a guest sees in the minibar step come from your shop catalogue.
- Keeping that catalogue current keeps the minibar declaration accurate.
🧩 Tip: If a property has no minibar, leave the minibar catalogue empty. The declaration step then has nothing to show. Manage the catalogue alongside your other self-service shops.
5. Related Configuration
- Configure the Check-In Flow: the matching arrival flow.
- Additional Services: the shop/services catalogue the minibar step draws on.
6. Conclusion
Self-checkout hands the departure to the guest: confirm, declare minibar, review the bill, pay, done. Per property you decide, and have LIKE MAGIC enable, whether the flow is offered and whether payment is part of it, and the minibar items come from your shop catalogue. It runs on the Digital Guest Portal and Kiosk.
