Travel Buddy

Travel Buddy lets a guest add and manage co-travellers ("buddies") on their reservation, including each buddy's legal and ID data. This article explains what the guest can do and the one setting you control.

This article is written for the administrator who configures the guest journey for a property.

1. Who Can Use This​

Travel Buddy needs no activation. A guest can add one co-traveller per additional person the reservation was booked for, so the section does not appear on a single-occupancy reservation. The one option that changes the flow is whether buddy data is required (section 3).

2. What the Guest Can Do​

From the guest journey, a guest can:

  • Add a co-traveller to the reservation.
  • Edit a co-traveller's details.
  • Manage the list of co-travellers, including their legal/ID data.

Buddies appear in the guest's stay area, and the buddy legal variant also surfaces inside the check-in flow so a buddy's document can be scanned during check-in.

3. Requiring Buddy Data​

The one setting that changes the flow is whether buddy data is mandatory for the primary guest: that is, whether the primary guest must provide their co-travellers' data (rather than it being optional).

  • Optional (default): the primary guest may add buddies but is not forced to.
  • Mandatory: the primary guest must supply the buddy data before continuing.

Use the mandatory setting where you need complete co-traveller records, for example for registration or legal reasons. It is set per property by LIKE MAGIC. Request the change via a Support Ticket.

4. Legal & ID Data for Buddies​

A buddy can have the same legal and ID data as the primary guest, captured through the buddy legal variant. Where you make document scanning available, a buddy's document can be scanned and its MRZ read the same way. See ID Scan & Verification. Treat buddy identity data with the same care and retention rules as the primary guest's.

6. Conclusion​

Travel Buddy lets guests add, edit, and manage co-travellers and their legal/ID data. It is on by default where available; the setting you control is whether buddy data is required of the primary guest.
