Food & Beverage
LIKE MAGIC gives your team two food-and-beverage surfaces on a reservation: an F&B Orders tab and a Restaurant tab. Both live inside the reservation detail drawer (the per-reservation workspace a staff member opens from the Reservations list), so a host can see and manage a guest's F&B orders and restaurant bookings in the same place as the rest of the stay.
This article is written for the administrator who decides whether those tabs appear and for the host who uses them. F&B orders and restaurant reservations are available on Mews and Oracle Opera Cloud properties and can connect to an external F&B / point-of-sale (POS) system through a dedicated connector.
1. Who Can Use This
Whether the F&B and Restaurant tabs are usable at a property depends on your pricing, your property setup, your role and your PMS:
- Your pricing. Each tab requires Platform pricing, and each is gated separately, so F&B Orders and Restaurant can be available independently. Without the pricing a tab still appears in the drawer but is locked, with an upgrade prompt, so staff can see the capability exists without being able to use it. See Pricing Tiers.
- Your property setup. F&B is enabled per property. If both tabs are missing entirely (not locked), request activation via a Support Ticket.
- Your role. The reservation drawer and its tabs are a Host responsibility.
- Your PMS. These tabs are available on Mews and Oracle Opera Cloud properties. See section 3.
2. The Two F&B Tabs on a Reservation
Open a reservation from the Reservations list to reveal its detail drawer. Among the drawer's tabs are two dedicated to food and beverage:
- F&B Orders: the guest's F&B orders attached to this reservation, each with its order items, location and status.
- Restaurant: the guest's restaurant bookings for the stay, with venue, date and time, party size and status.
Both sit alongside the drawer's other tabs (Overview, Billing, Services, and so on), so a host handles F&B in the same workspace as billing and services rather than switching tools. Because each tab is gated separately, a property might have one available and the other locked.
3. Availability by PMS and Pricing
F&B orders and restaurant reservations are available on properties running Mews or Oracle Opera Cloud via OHIP. They are not available on Apaleo properties.
Each tab also requires Platform pricing, so F&B works at a property when the property runs a supporting PMS, your pricing covers the tab, and F&B is enabled for that property.
4. Connecting an External F&B / POS System
F&B orders and restaurant reservations can be backed by external systems: a point-of-sale system for the orders, and a restaurant-reservation system for the bookings. LIKE MAGIC talks to them through a dedicated Food & Beverage connector, the integration layer that receives their updates and attaches each order or booking to the matching hotel reservation.
Setting up that connection is an integration task rather than something a host does day-to-day. The connector is configured for the property, and once it is in place the orders and restaurant bookings it manages surface on the reservation's F&B tabs.
5. Enabling It for Your Property (Administrator)
To make the F&B tabs usable for your team, an administrator ensures that:
- the property's pricing covers the F&B Orders and/or Restaurant tabs,
- F&B is enabled for the property (request it via a Support Ticket),
- staff who work reservations hold the Host role, and
- if external systems are used, the Food & Beverage connector is configured for the property (section 4).
With those in place, the F&B tabs appear and populate on each reservation's detail drawer for your hosts.
6. Conclusion
Food & Beverage lives on the reservation itself: two tabs in the detail drawer (F&B Orders and Restaurant), each requiring Platform pricing, available on Mews and Oracle Opera Cloud properties, and optionally backed by external systems through the Food & Beverage connector. An administrator's job is to make sure the pricing, the property setup, the role and (where used) the connector are in place; the host then works F&B in the same drawer as the rest of the stay.
For the reservation drawer as a whole, see Booking Management.
